Another Vetch...

All of the flowers I've posted so far have been on my road. The other day I noticed a mass of pink on the main drag, Rt. 196, so when I got home I took a walk to investigate what it was. It ended up being a big batch of this crown vetch. It looks like clover but the aroma was very sweet. That is something I've discovered doing this series, a lot of these flowers have surprisingly sweet scents.

Oh, so lovely. John, a ouple of my bird store customers who are very beginning and excited birders just came back from a trip to Maine - they went to look for moose, but saw mostly birds! They are anxious to go back - they loved it. (I did too, but I haven't been in 35 years.)

Beautiful John! I don't think I've seen this variety of vetch here. Or maybe I just thought it was a clover and didn’t look! This is also a great lesson in paying attention!
Hope you’re going to put a book together with this series!!!

Beautiful and delicate and again a gorgeous bokeh, that focuses all attention to the flower! Bravo!

Beautiful picture of the crown vetch! I think it is a very pretty flower and see it as ground cover on some of our roadsides, but never get this close to really look at it. You made it beautiful and worthy of any garden :-)

That's really beautiful, John. I saw some in bloom here last week. Looking at the details, it's quite a pretty flower. Reading Helen's comment here is so funny because I can't count how many times I've driven to upper Maine on a "moose hunt" and came away with lots of sightings of road signs telling me to watch out for moose, but I haven't seen a moose yet. lol One of these days, I'll get my picture of a moose! ;-)
