Striking a Pose....

I bought some squirrel food the other day and it didn't take long to attract a couple of red squirrels once I put it out. I took this photo on Friday, the temp was a balmy 5 degrees after a low of 25 below zero. One of the squirrels wasn't as skittish as the other so it allowed me a pretty close approach and I was able to get a few pictures.

I know they're really rodents, but darn they're cute! He looks like he has quite a belly full of your offerings.

Poor little critters. I'm such a wuss when it comes to cold weather, I always wonder how the animals fare out in the elements. They're obviously made of hardier stock than I.

So cute - he doesn't seem to mind the cold so much.

He is just the cutest. A lot of people in blogland have posted grey squirrels with huge brush tails. The red is so different both to them and the blacks as well as his European cousins who are much thinner, have long tufted ears and a longer bushier tail.
If you are interested in rocks John, give me another visit.

We have some extra red squirrels here in Waldo County that we'd be HAPPY to send you're way. They are very photogenic and would be delighted to help eat anything in your yard.
