Red Breasted Nuthatch...

Like I mentioned before, the nuthatches are a lot tougher to photograph than the chickadees because they move quicker. This guy stayed still long enough to snap a couple of photos before going to the feeder. I have a couple of different ones that visit, this particular one has a paler breast than the last nuthatch I posted.

I love that photo! They really are pretty birds and you captured that beauty very well in the picture.

I have yet to see on here in Massachusetts.

Nice pose on that one John.

Great shot! He posed just long enough! I wish I knew where my red-breasted nuthatches have gone. Mine usually were pale, but I have seen differences like you mention.

Perfect! even the upside down pose! to answer your question.. the elk shed their antlers in April. Moose and whitetail deer in Dec- Jan (I think this is the same in your part of the world) and the Mule deer in May... antelope actually shed their horn caps also but that doesn't happen until about a month after breeding season in the Fall.. (more info than you asked for I know, but I was on a roll...)Stay warm~

This guy made it look easy, but I know what you are saying, nuthatches can be a challenge. I like the textures and the pose.
