Mystery Flower....

This is the first new photo I've taken in over a month. Between a new job I've started, all the rain we've been having and a project I have going on (I have some chickens and I'm working on a coop for them) I haven't taken the time to photograph.
This blossom is growing in my flower garden, I planted it about 4 or 5 years ago as a rootlet but I don't remember what it is, it took this long to finally bloom.

It is beautiful with the water drops on it. I'm surprised it took so long to bloom.

Lovly shot still wet from the shower.Thank the Lord fasting for gardening books! Your flower is a Rusbeckia laciniata, which is happy to grow in zones 3-10.

I just came across your blog...am an avid "hunter" of wildflowers in S Dakota and we have a very similar flower here called the false sunflower, which looks like your photo. FYI!

I think that's a helinium or 'false sunflower.' My mother used to call them 'Outhouse roses' because they were often grown beside outhouses to disguise them. Very tall, 6-8ft if it's the one I'm thinking of. Beautiful botanical.
