Butterflies Fluttering By......

This is a late summer shot from a couple of years ago. The sun was just coming up and these butterflies were warming their wings so they could take off and look for nectar. I was lucky to see two on one goldenrod plant.

Beautiful, John. It reminds me of an oil painting a friend of mine once did.

I love this spring-making campaign of yours. I have some pretty serious pollen allergies, but I'd happily sneeze once or twice if it means I could relive a warm, late summer day like the one in your photo. Bloggers from down south are posting real-time pictures of blooming azaleas and dogwoods. Unbelievable!

Yours in the Maine Winter,
Kathryn

John-

If I had snow up to my roof, I would post pictures of summer and fall as well! Great shots. Have you heard of Bugguide.net? Its a great place to post insect shots and volunteers will ID them for you.
