One of Maine's Wild Orchids....

In keeping with the close up flower shots this week, here's a photo of a lady slipper that I took on Monday. It's been a few years since I actually took a picture of one and I was able to take this just before the sun came back out. A few minutes after I snapped the photo, this blossom was in the bright sunshine which is the worst kind of lighting for flower photos.

Fantastic! I haven't seen any lady's slippers this year. The color on this is amazing, John.

Wow...that is beautiful! Such a wonderful thing to be growing wild. You really show the texture of it. This is why, I'm not a good photographer....I would have thought that bright sunshine was good :-)

Beautifull orchid. Pink Ladyslipper? I think they also grow in northern Minnesota in the boreal forest.

Yes John,
Bright sunlight and daisies don't make a very good combo!! I found that out today! The picture is stunning as usual. I'll work on those daisies another day!
Thanks!

The light didn't get in the way of your always lovely captures...The double droplets are perfect.

This is very beautiful! I have looking daily now hoping to find one in bloom. I have a favourite spot where I always see one but there is nothing there so far.

Beautiful photo! I use to find those in the woods in CT when I was young.
