Vetch is a very common sight on the roadside during the month of June. Later in the summer the blossoms turn into what look like miniture peapods. Usually they appear in a jumbled mass but I isolated this single batch of blossoms so they would show up better.

In the heat of the late summer, while walking my trails, I can hear the little "pea pods" popping open throwing their peas into the big wild world!!
Also my daughter found that if you take one of the little flower petals off they look like little mini hummingbirds. Fun things about a common wildflower!

Hi John - as always, very lovely - this roadside series reminds me of a quote I have used on cards a couple of times: "Weeds are flowers too, once you get to know them." (from Winnie the Pooh)
