Golden Oldie....

Here's a blast from the past, I took this sunrise photo back in 1987 and it was shot on Kodachrome 25 film. I wonder how differently this photo would look today if I shot it with digital? When I first started shooting digital back in the late 90's I loved it but I was still shooting film. I was hesitant to switch to 100% digital, Mike made the switch before I did but I finally went all digital in 2005 and I'm glad I did, I don't miss shooting film at all. I could elaborate on the reasons why but I'm sure you've read it all before.

Such beautiful color John! I feel the same way you did and do about digital. I couldn't go back.

Remember that old song about "Kodachrome that gives the nice, bright colors..." I rad your post and that came into my mind. Those are certainly nice, bight colors. My husband dragged me, kicking and screaming, into digital in 2000, and I've never wanted to turn back! (Good thing - who could afford film now?)

That is gorgeous! All of that purple and pink just flowing throughout the photo. My husband "forced" a digital camera on me and I could kick myself for resisting for so long! For someone who never shoots less than 100 photos of anything, how on earth did I ever survive with film?? And not having to scan anything into the computer makes it twice as nice!

Brilliant colors and stunning composition. As to the question of digital at that time...my view is digital gives many advantages and the most important being flexibility. If this were shot in RAW, just image the many options you would have to work with this wonderful image.

By the way : Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment on my blog...Thomas

VERY beautiful John!! At that time I was using slide film myself and was reluctant to change over to digital. Now I cannot believe the difference between the two.

I still miss film sometimes. It seems like there is a lot of visual noise in my photos when I take a shot with lots of foliage in it. Perhaps I need to learn how to use my camera better. I still haven't learned much about playing with the settings. I knew how to do that with my 35mm. I do like the ease of digital and the immediacy of it. This photo is very lovely and could be a painting.
