Grackles.....


I photographed these two guys from my kayak shortly after photographing the battling snappers. Even though it was overcast the irredesent blue feathers show up nicely. There was a whole flock of them and it was interesting watching them hunt in the grass or come to the waters edge for a birdbath.

I always love the beauty of their heads. It sort of redeems them for being a nusiance at the feeders occasionally in the winter. This is where they belong and look best.

black birds are always so hard to capture with any detail and you have done a great job here, especially with the iridescence. the low light might have made it easier to get good detail on the bird without blowing out the lighter background.
