A Departure For Me.....
Last Friday marked the 10th anniversary of the creation of this blog. In keeping with it's name every single photograph I've posted in the last 10 years has been taken in the state of Maine. Today I've decided to depart from that at least with this post. Back in early October I took a trip to New Mexico to explore and photograph the Bisti/De-Za-Nin wilderness area. This was my second trip there, going for the first time back in 2016. This area is very remote and you won't run into many people, my kid of trip, it's also a black and white photographers paradise. The interesting rock formations, hills and hoodoos provide plenty of shapes and tones to get very creative with. The two photos posted here were both taken during blue hour, in this case, after the sun had set. I also shot some video and just posted some footage on Youtube. Give it a watch to get a better sense of the place, to give it a view just click here: Bisti Video. Here's to another 10 years of posting to this blog.

Wide Angle Waterfall....
After photographing the sunflowers and corn field, as seen in the previous post, I headed to my original destination. It's the same area I was on Memorial day and this image was taken on Labor day so I book ended the summer at the same location. The water was flowing a little less so I was able to access this particular cascade. With a higher water flow it's tough to navigate the narrow gorge where this fall appears unless you're wearing waders.

Sunflowers and Corn Field...
Earlier this month I took a ride to Andover to photograph the Ellis River by the Cascade Trail. On the way there I passed this scene and had to pull over and grab some shots.

Photographing Waterfalls....
In late May I paid a visit to Andover and the West Branch of The Ellis River to photograph waterfalls. Above is one of the photos I took. While there I also filmed a video, for a better sense of the area and to view more photos I took that day, watch the video on Youtube, here's the link: Photographing waterfalls.

Bluebird Visitor...
This past Monday a bluebird was checking out a nest box I set out specifically to attract bluebirds. Now I'm hoping they actually use it to raise some young so I can get better photographs, they checked it out last year but chose not to utilize it. When a pair of chickadees started building a nest in the box, the bluebirds chased them off and the house remained empty.
