More Snorkeling...

I went back to Annabessacook Lake this past weekend to do more snorkeling, I purchased the Olympus TG-6 waterproof camera and wanted to give it a test run. The top photo is another pumpkinseed sunfish, the bottom one is a curious largemouth bass that swam up to me and was checking me out. The video I made on my first snorkeling adventure at Annabessacook can be seen by clicking HERE.

Something A Little Different, Snorkeling...

I used to snorkel all the time when I was younger but it’s probably been almost 30 years since I snorkeled last. This weekend I finally got out again, took plenty of videos, and snapped some photos. The first fish is a largemouth bass and the other photos are pumpkin seed sunfish. I'll be posting the video on YouTube once the editing is complete.

Clear Cuts Can Be Pretty...

While I was staying at Spencer Pond Camps, Mike K. and I went on an exploratory drive one morning when the weather wasn't that great. While driving down an old logging road we came upon a recovering clearcut. When clear-cuts are complete, they can be pretty jarring to see in the wilderness, but after a few years, they start to recover. As this photo shows, wildflowers take advantage of the newly created open area and proliferate.

Otter and Moose Video....

I recently returned to Spencer Pond Camps for a five-day stay. I didn't take many photos or shoot much video on this trip. However, on my last evening, I ventured out for a paddle around the pond and was lucky enough to encounter a curious otter and a moose. The otter didn't stay around very long but I was able to get a few short clips of it checking me out. Below is a screen grab from the video. About twenty minutes later I came upon the moose. It was about 100 feet from shore and I could tell it was really bothered by the mosquitoes. In some of the clips, you can see how thick the mosquitoes were around it. You gotta feel bad for them, they don't have the ability to apply bug repellent as we do. Click here to check out the video: https://youtu.be/M5k9XMKTHqI

Phoebe..

I'm longing for the warm temperatures and fresh new growth of spring. Won't be long now.

A few birds showed up in my yard the other day during a snow storm. I was surprised to see the bluebirds because I thought they migrated south for the winter. A couple of them were checking out the the nest box even though they won't be nesting around here for a few months.
