Daisys....

During a trip up north last month I discovered this field of daisys by the side of the road. I've never seen that many growing in one place before.

Solar Eclipse...

Here in Maine we were lucky enough to experience totality of the eclipse on April 8th. The weather conditions could not have been more perfect, crystal clear skies without so musch as a wisp of a cloud in the sky. Witnessing totality was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. The first photo shows what's called the diamond ring, the last bit of sunshine an instant before totality. The second photo is what the landscape photo looks like during totality, it lasted just over three minutes.

Spencer Pond Time-Lapse...

One of my objectives while at Spencer Pond Cabins a couple of weeks ago was to shoot some time-lapse video. In all I shot over 6500 images and this clip consists of about 2000 and took about 3 hours in real time to fiMm. Click here to view: Spencer Pond Time Lapse 2023.

Clear Cuts Can Be Pretty...

While I was staying at Spencer Pond Camps, Mike K. and I went on an exploratory drive one morning when the weather wasn't that great. While driving down an old logging road we came upon a recovering clearcut. When clear-cuts are complete, they can be pretty jarring to see in the wilderness, but after a few years, they start to recover. As this photo shows, wildflowers take advantage of the newly created open area and proliferate.

Moxie Bald Evening....

This is another image from the hike I took on Moxie Bald Mountain earlier this month. As I mentioned in my first Moxie Bald post I shot a video of the hike and I got it uploaded to Youtube and it can be viewed here.

Spencer Pond Camps Video, Pt. 1....

Last summer I spent a week in northern Maine at a place called Spencer Pond Camps. While there I hiked, kayaked and took photos. I also shot plenty of video footage and I finally got the first part of the video edited and posted onto Youtube. The above photo is a screen grab from the video. To view it click here.

A Wilderness Getaway....

I just spent a week at Spencer Pond Camps, which is in a secluded area in northern Maine, not too far from Moosehead Lake, I kayaked, hiked and did plenty of photography and video filming while there. These two imagess were taken next to the cabin I rented. The hare would make an appearance each evening and would allow a fairly close approach, those grey lumps on its face are ticks, unfortunately it was covered with them.

The Colors Were Stunning....

This photo was taken during the weekend I spent van camping last month. As I mentioned in my previous post I shot plenty of video including photographing this waterfall, Moxie Falls. The ten minute video can be seen here on Youtube by clicking this link: Autumn Van Camping.

Off Grid...

I just spent some time in northern Maine on the north edge of Moosehead Lake. I camped out of my van which I recently bought just for that purpose. I stayed in a place called Seboomook Wilderness Campground, it had some amenities but internet was not one of them and I must say I enjoyed it. Being that far north light pollution is almost non-existent so it's an ideal location for astrophotography. This photo was taken near the boat launch where the campgrounds canoes are stored.
