Last spring I planted echinacea to attract butterflies, well the flowers are now blooming and doing their job. The other day there were at least 5 or 6 of these fritillaries on them. There's only one problem; the japanese beatles are ravaging the petals.

Happy Monday, John...This is gorgeous - sorry about the Japanese beetles - at least you found one perfect flower for your photograph.
Beautiful!! I would love to see as many Frits at mine!!! I hear that Guinea Fowl will eat your Japanese beetles right up!!! Sorry to hear that tho my cousin has the same problem in her Maine garden!
Obviously the echinacea is doing a great job! Lovely! I hate Japanese beetles.....evil little things. I made the mistake of buying traps one year....what a gross mess and it attracts ten times as many as without the traps!
Gorgeous, John ! Is it An Aphrodite?
Very beautiful "bird"!
Cheers, Klaus
Fabulous image!!
Fabulous picture. I am going to have to plant some next year. right now I'm seeing them all over the web with butterflies on them. I can't get butterflies to stop for 1/2 a second currently.
I don't know if we have Japanese beetles here. May need to research that first.
