The pink rose is a pasture rose that I found growing on the side of my road, the scent seemed kind of soapy to me but was very pleasant. The white rose is the multiflora rose and that one has a very nice scent too but is an invasive species. I read a little about it and found out it was brought over to North America by the settlers from Europe to remind them of home. A few years ago I never saw this rose but now it's growing everywhere, a huge bush in full bloom is kind of impressive to see. I included a wider shot to show how it got its name, the blossoms are in bunches on the plant.

Morning John,
I just love the wild roses. I have the pink rose pictured here along the side of my driveway right where the mowing stops. There are a number of them there but they are small and never seem to amount to anything. I check each summer to see their short lived flowers as I walk to the mailbox. I've often thought about moving one to see if it would do better in a garden. Maybe that would be the thing to do!!
Thanks!
Your flowery roadside tour is great!
Almost as good as the pictures!
Cheers, Klaus
Both are beautiful, and I find it hard to get upset about invasive species that are that lovely :-) They would make a beautiful bouquet together. I'm always amazed at how you can isolate and made a single bloom of anything look gorgeous! I know it takes a lot of work on your part....and the results are well worth the effort!
So good I can almost smell them!
