Like the frog shots, from last week, I got right down at eye level to take this photograph. At least I wasn't balancing on some rocks but I was able to lie right on the ground.

I don't know if I'm more impressed with this photo or that you got down on the ground knowing it could slither in your direction.
:-D
I can't believe that it let you lie right there on the ground and take its picture! Are you a "snake charmer"??? Stupendous shot! Love the tongue especially. WOW!
John, that's one cute little snake. Is it poisonous? Were you in deadly peril? I hope not for purely selfish reasons of course....I love your photos.
OK, John, I KNOW it's harmless, but it's a SNAKE! Wonderful photography though, of course.
Love it. Pose, light, detail - everything! Good job, John!
Cheers, Klaus
That's great John! I almost stepped on one today and he wasn't happy when he got surrounded by 15 unhappy guineas! Just so you know, no scales were displaced!!
Wonderful shot. I have tried all summer to get some snake pics, but they usually come back washed out.. this is great.
This is great. I would have thought getting on eye level might have made it slither away, but it let you have a terrific picture instead.
The garters seem to be everywhere this week--we passed three out sunbathing our walk tihs afternoon alone. Any guesses why? Last-minute feasting and ray-catching before the big sleep, maybe?
wonderful shot. I am not a big fan of snakes so I have to use my longer lens.
