Here's a photo of one of my bearded irises from a couple of years ago. They should be blooming again in about a month. This picture was taken after a night of rain, the droplets of water and the little fly on the iris makes the photo more interesting and it's easy to see how these irises got their name.

Beautiful shot John!
Well as far as names go...one of the wildflowers I get here on my property is the "Hairy Beardtongue"! http://ontariowildflowers.com/main/species.php?id=23 Its very beautiful...but WOW what a name!!!
Gorgeous. Love the dew drops. so clear and perfect thanks John
The iris has always been one of my very favorite flowers--I'm such a sucker for those cool, blue tones.
I noticed your previous post about ospreys. I've been keeping my eyes peeled for the ones who nest in our neck of the woods--I think I saw a head yesterday in one of the nests. Any activity in your area?
