Golden Oldie....
Here's a blast from the past, I took this sunrise photo back in 1987 and it was shot on Kodachrome 25 film. I wonder how differently this photo would look today if I shot it with digital? When I first started shooting digital back in the late 90's I loved it but I was still shooting film. I was hesitant to switch to 100% digital, Mike made the switch before I did but I finally went all digital in 2005 and I'm glad I did, I don't miss shooting film at all. I could elaborate on the reasons why but I'm sure you've read it all before.

Another Aster...
Here's another aster photo I took last week. Right now they're in their peak bloom, some roadsides are just covered in the purples and pinks of these biennual flowers. The last time there was a nice display like this was back in '06; now it won't be until 2010 till we see the purple roadsides again in this area.

New England Aster.....
Well it happened, last night we had our first frost; I'm glad I covered up my tomato plants. It won't be long now and my days of photographing flowers will be over for the season, the next big event will be taking pictures of the colored leaves, the leaf display is supposed to be nice this year because of the weather we've been having. I took the above photo the other day and I like the way the pink looks against the out of focus goldenrod. The asters are everywhere right now; I love driving around and seeing the bright pinks and purples on the roadside, it's quite striking.

Tomato Scourge....
A few weeks back I noticed something was eating my tomatoes and the leaves on some of the plants were starting to disappear. My neice was visiting this past weekend and raiding the cherry tomatoes when she found this guy. Turned out I had a bunch of them on the plants; they camouflage well. I'm surprised I didn't see them sooner because they are huge. The eye ball patterns on the side are pretty interesting so I had to take some photographs. Now I just hope I got rid of them all so I can enjoy my tomatoes before the first frost hits, which could be any day now.

Fireweed...
Fireweed usually grows in a cluster at the top of a spike but it's late in the season so most of the flowers have gone to seed and there were only blossoms here and there. I wish I would've found these sooner because there was quite a group of plants, the mass of pink would've made a nice photograph.

Fall Preview....
The other day I noticed a few trees changing color so today I'm posting a preview of what's soon to come. This photo is from a few years ago; hopefully I'll get some good autumn shots to post this year. This spot is also only a few feet away from where the crayfish crawled out of the water in the photo I posted yesterday.

Another Cray.....
I was at the river enjoying the sunshine when all of a sudden this crayfish crawled out of the water and walked across the rock to go into another pool. That was the first time I ever saw that behavior. At least with this one there was water around unlike the crayfish from earlier this summer that I found walking in the middle of the road.
