I was at the river enjoying the sunshine when all of a sudden this crayfish crawled out of the water and walked across the rock to go into another pool. That was the first time I ever saw that behavior. At least with this one there was water around unlike the crayfish from earlier this summer that I found walking in the middle of the road.

That's cool John...how big are they? The ones in my pond are only a couple inches long. This one looks huge!
Wow. Genetic distribution at its best. I agree with kjpweb, though, at first glance, I thought it was a strange kind of lobster!
How cool that you actually saw one of these on the beach!! I'm lucky if I find any good shells when I go.
