Autumn Heron....
Tuesday afternoon I had to go to Lisbon Falls so on the way home I decided to stop by the Papermill Trail for a walk, that's the trail that follows Sabattus River. I went to my favorite spot and I noticed a heron sitting on a rock right in the middle of some rapids but I didn't have my camera. I decided to go home and get it hoping the heron would still be there when I got back. It was, but just in a different area, there were actually two of them and these are a couple of the shots I got.

Just beautiful John!
The second pictures is really neat! Red, white & blue as it were.
I like the first photo where he is hunched down....I usually only see them with the neck stretched up and somehow the other is a prettier pose. These are lovely with the water and fall color. How fortunate that he waited for you to come back!
Beautiful with the vibrant colors..
Beautiful pictures. And they try to tell you its American Express you should never leave home without in my opinion its the camera. So glad the heron stuck around for you. Thanks for stopping by and visiting my blog. I appreciate the visit.
Just when I think I have seen your best shots, you come up with something better. LOL!! Brilliant!! It was kind of them to wait for you to get back.
Talk about luck, he hung out long enough for you to return? I'm telling you, that is unprecedented in the annals of bird photography!
Beautiful John :-)
Oh I love him all fluffed and hunched up. It must have been pretty cool there.
The second one is game to walk in almost out of is depth.
Great shots.
That's one cooperative heron!
Gorgeous. My favorite Bird. Loved yesterdays frosted leaf as well, as the water scenes from the previous posts!
Excellent, my friend!
Cheers, Klaus
very nice, John....especially the second one, with the color!
That's a nice picture. I really like the fall colors. Living in Florida, I don't get to see fall colors and herons at the same time. As a matter of fact, I've never seen fall colors here in Central Florida (lol).
