The most common bird visiting my feeder is the Maine state bird. They allow a pretty close approach so they're good to practice bird photography on.

You can never have enough Chickadees John!
Lovely state bird to have! Great photo of it....mine are always in and out so quick. I love watching them.
I do miss the Chickadees so widely distributed in the Northern Hemisphere.
Nice shot John.
And it does take practice! Black faced birds with black bills and black eyes are tough! You got it all in this photo.
I'm glad you put up your feeder and brought birds into your backyard.
We don't have chickadees here but lots of titmouses who are soo fast. The only bird that is quicker is a chaffinch. I've tried to capture these champions for almost a year and to no result!
I don't often find birds that will let me practice on them. Every once in a while I luck up. This is a great shot per your usual.
:-)
I used to pass the chickadees by, since they're everywhere. But lately they are really growing on me: those are tough little birds!
Great picture of the chickadee. I don't have nearly as many as I thought I would this winter which is a total let down as they are my favorite common back yard bird.
I still love these little ones.. thanks for sharing
